![]() I found an organic and biodynamic winery called Southbrook Vineyards and thought it might be nice to give it a try as it was open the day we planned on driving up. Recommended locations suggested by people we spoke to and internet searches led us to Niagara on the Lake in Canada's wine tasting country. I also seem partial to the Moscato wines.Īfter getting married at Niagara Falls I wanted to take a romantic day trip with my new husband, not a real honeymoon, just a little day trip together. ![]() I've never been a huge fan of carbonation and can only ingest a little at a time. ![]() While I am still enjoying the flavor of the Domaine's they are a little too bubbly for me to drink regularly and I can't drink very much. Any wines made anywhere other than Champagne, France are referred to as sparkling wines. The Domaine's would be called Champagne, except that Champagne's technically refer to sparkling wines made using the methode champenoise in the Champagne region of France (some sort of legal agreements are at work here). It turns out that when discussing sparkling wines or wines that are made using the methode champenoise the drier the sweeter. I ended up looking these two wines up online to see if I could learn the difference between the varieties. As it turns out Extra Dry is on the sweeter end of the scale as far as wines go and on the 1-10 scale it is an 8. I ended up accidentally buying some Domaine Ste Michele Extra Dry, and to my surprise I enjoyed it even more. Not too long after the wedding at least two times I actually went to the Wine & Spirits store seeking out some of this Brut to actually see if it was something I could drink. While I usually just drink water or clear caffeine free sodas as my wedding toast beverage of choice, I actually tried the Brut and thought it was tasty. Last Fall we attended a friends wedding and for their toast they had Domaine Ste Michele Brut (technically a sparkling wine - more on that later). In my early thirties I attended two wine tastings, but didn't really like the taste of any of the wines I tried. I've know alcoholics and had been far too familiar with drunk folks and their loss of self control that I never had the desire to partake at any level. I have to confess that I know nothing really about wine or any other alcoholic beverages as I have abstained from drinking all of my life, except for a few tastes of this and that while underage. ![]() Multiple Access and Scalability – SQLite vs MySQL For larger databases, this will be a time-consuming activity. ![]() No configurations are required, and the process ca be done using minimal support.īefore copying or exporting MySQL you need to condense it into a single file. MySQL supports the below-mentioned datatypes: SQLite supports these datatypes: Blob, Integer, Null, Text, Real. MySQL will require a client and server architecture to interact over a network. This is also referred to as an embedded database which means the DB engine runs as a part of the app. SQLite is a server-less database and is self-contained.
There are some issues with textures, though, especially when you get up-close, so the engine that has been in use for years now is showing its age. The environments can range from drab to beautiful, but more often than not the environments impress. The character models are all pretty solid, though they do have a tendency to look a little wooden and the lip syncing isn't the best. The campaign is decent, but it isn't going to win any awards. At least one of those endings seems to leave the door open for a direct sequel, so don't be surprised if we see a Black Ops III by this time in 2014. ![]() Black Ops II features a total of three different endings, and I was actually surprised by how many variables there were when it came to which ending you see when you beat the game. That's a pretty ambitious for a single-player FPS campaign, and there might even be a few forks in the road that have you hesitant to make a decision. There are many moments in the game when the path forward is determined by player choice, which means that you'll have a story with plenty of branching paths. In fact, in order to get the best ending, you'll have to do a lot of things. If you want to get the best ending though, you'll have to successfully complete these missions. It's a cool little mode, but things can get hectic at times, so I think it could prove to be a bit much for some players. You can also control individual units and jump between them freely, giving you the chance to fight off enemies quickly in the places that need help the most. You can zoom out to view an overhead map, which allows you to issue orders to multiple units at once. These add a little RTS flavor to the first person shooter genre, giving you areas to defend as enemies attack from all sides. Some of these sequences work better than others, but at least they all serve a purpose in giving you something different right when you need a break from the typical run and gun routine.Īlongside the regular campaign missions, you'll have the opportunity to complete Strike Force missions. There will be times when you're riding on horseback (while holding and shooting a rocket launcher, no less), jumping out of a plane to "parachute" into enemy territory, and flying a jet. Treyarch deserves a pat on the back for never being afraid to shake things up a bit as well – Black Ops II isn't always about shooting. The situations the characters get themselves into may not always seem plausible, but that does allow for some intense sequences and edge-of-your seat moments. ![]() ![]() Players will chase the beyond evil Raul Menendez – who I must say makes a excellent villain – throughout the decades as he hatches a plan that would quite literally leave the world in shambles. That being said, it isn't as if the campaign in Black Ops II is lacking charm. ![]() A couple of months later a rumor emerged that the company had engaged an investment banker and was potentially looking to sell itself. ![]() ![]() Needless to say the shares gapped down -they fell by as much as 40% in the two sessions after the earnings report before bouncing a little. One is Asher, the second son of the family now living in exile as a mercenary in Essos. We don’t want to spoil anything, but suffice to say their are two new members of the Forrester household to control in “The Lost Lords”, and the episode’s title hints at who they are. We’re starting to feel for these characters and we want them to succeed, and to right the wrongs that have been done to them in the first installment.Īgain, there are a few quick-time action scenes, including an enjoyable bit of crossbow practice and a delightfully gory brawl in a tavern. By the end of “Iron from Ice” House Forrester is in, if anything, a more precarious position than it was at the beginning, and that puts immense pressure on you to make the “right” choices. The “next time” sequence at the end hints at other show favourites that will appear in the second episode.Įpisode Two continues the story with the same tone and feel of the first episode. In “Iron From Ice” there are appearances by Cersei and Tyrion Lannister, Margaery Tyrell and Ramsay Snow, all voiced by their TV show actors. You do, however, interact with familiar characters from the show. Telltale’s decision to focus on a minor house of Westeros (House Forrester is not mentioned in the show, and barely registers in the books) is a clever one: it means the player can live in the Game of Thrones TV show’s world without interfering with or derailing the major timeline or affecting “canon” events. Telltale says five characters will be controllable in all, so we’re expecting other Forresters (and there are a fair few of them) to play a larger part in future instalments. There’s young Ethan Forrester, thrust into a position for which he is ill-prepared his eldest sister Mira, a handmaiden in the service of queen-to-be Margaery Tyrell in King’s Landing and lastly Gared Tuttle, son of a pig farmer and squire to Lord Gregor “the Good” Forrester, head of the house. ![]() Rather than control a single character, “Iron from Ice” puts you in the boots of three members of the Forrester household.
